Established in 2005 O'Halloran Deal has grown to be one of the largest law firms solely focused on providing commercial law advice in the Riverina.
In 2008 O'Halloran Deal Lawyers were funded by AusIndustry to run the Riverina Business Clinic aimed to build the capacity of small business to consider their operation from a legal perspective.
As part of Riverina Business Clinic program, lawyers at O'Halloran Deal performed a 2-3 hour interview with each registered business based around 12 key performance areas that included: contracts, succession planning, employment, occupational health and safety, e-commerce, corporate compliance, debt and credit management, environmental and planning compliance and financial management.
O'Halloran Deal Lawyers approached us to build them a solution to help them firstly interview the 100 business and then assist them partially produce the report for these businesses.
For the mobile platform we sided with Maemo and chose the Nokia n800. Written using Python and GTK, we built an extremely simple user interface that was touch friendly. Clever use of elements like rating widgets made this interface extremely successful and easy to use.
The data transfer is managed by the desktop tool. The Desktop software is capable to managing each one of these handhelds while they are connected via the USB interface. Questions are automatically updated and the answers downloaded back to the central desktop.
The desktop software also featured a questionnaire designer that allowed the staff at O'Halloran Deal Lawyers to lay out the questionnaire in a tree based structure.
We used the Word automation toolkit to create reports as Word documents. The idea was to create an editable report that the lawyers could edit to add the finishing touches. The report generation process also ensured that reports were consistent and provided the appropriate information based on the lawyer's research.
O'Halloran Deal also chose our web presence solution. They are hosted on our server infrastructure and choose TYPO3 as their content management system.
